Gerry Cates – President/Owner

Texas Range Minerals, Inc. was begun in June 1993 by Gerry Cates. For fifteen years prior, Cates managed ranches and searched for more efficient, cost effective mineral supplements for range cattle.

From 1978 to 1993, he studied which plants cattle grazed during different seasons, how cattle grazed those plants, the subsequent cattle performance, and the results of forage and manure analysis. This research led to a simple concept: (1) supplement only the minerals that are missing from the natural diet of cattle using the minerals’ simplest, most available ionic form; but, (2) don’t puff up the product by supplementing what’s not missing!

In 1975 Cates earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University in Animal Science. From his educational background and research and development into the health effects of minerals on range cattle, it was obvious that TRM’s formulas were unlike standard minerals. Cates filed and received a patent on his formula parameters in 2001.
